We start our tour on Mount Bental overlooking a panoramic scene of Syria and Lebanon, your guide will give you an introduction and geographical orientation. It’s also a beautiful spot for a photo opportunity.
On the site you will find a small coffee place, were you can refresh, called Coffee Anan as a tribute to the former UN Secretary General.
After a short drive we will go to the abandoned Syrian intelligence headquarters where “Our man in Damascus” the spy Eli Cohen visited when he was in Syria.
From there we go to the site of the Great Jobba, a Geological marvel that can be found only in the Golan Heights.
A few minutes’ drive and we are at Oz 77: this site is witness to one of the most heroic battles that took place in “Yom Kipur War”, where just a handful of Israeli tanks stopped the full force of the Syrian army, saving Israel from losing the war.
At the site we can see the Israeli outpost including some of the Israeli and Syrian tanks left at the spot at which they were at 1973!
After the emotional time at Oz 77 we will drive to Magdal Shams, a “Druze” village next the Lebanese border to eat lunch at the house of a local family. At the lunch you will taste local dishes and feel the warm hospitality of these magnificent people. Ending the meal with local tea or coffee with some locals sweets, we continue on the tour.
After lunch we will head on to Tel Faher, a Syrian outpost that was witness to one of the dramatic battles in the “Six-Day War” in 1967. We will tell the story of the Golani Brigade that bravely, after a whole day of fighting took the outpost.
You can see in your own eyes the fortifications of the Syrian post, walk inside the foxholes and imagine how it was at that day.
You will also hear the story of the spy Eli Cohen that following a visit to this p[lace before the war, smartly made it visual to the Israeli forces.
If time permits we will finish the tour in the memorial center of the most terrible aerial accident in Israel, two helicopters collide midair, an accident that took the lives of 73 Israeli soldiers.
In the late afternoon after a long day we will head on to your place of stay, stopping along the way for refreshments.
